A local committee member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) from Kyaikkathar village, Kyaikto Township, Mon State, was shot and killed on March 27, according to local sources.
The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. in the Toe Chay New Ward of Kyaikkathar village. U Soe Min Oo, a 53-year-old USDP committee member, was sitting on the ground floor of his home when two unidentified individuals arrived on a motorcycle. One of them entered the house and shot him before fleeing the scene on the waiting motorcycle.

“He was sitting on the ground floor of his house when a man walked in and shot him. The shooter then left immediately on a motorcycle that had been waiting outside,” a local resident said.
U Soe Min Oo was killed instantly at the scene. Following the attack, military junta troops arrived to investigate, and his body was transported to the surgical ward of Kyaikto Township Public Hospital.
This incident follows a similar attack on March 23, when an investigative team from Kyaikto Township was ambushed near a rubber plantation along the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway, between Khameik and Kyarhpyu villages. The attack resulted in the deaths of Deputy Chief Investigator Min Thu and Assistant Investigator Myo Thant, while another investigator, Thura Soe, sustained gunshot wounds.
