An airstrike by the military junta near Ahnankwin Village in Kyainseikgyi Township, Karen State, has injured four civilians, according to local sources.

The attack took place on the afternoon of February 18, when a Y-8 military aircraft bombed Tanyin Village before continuing its assault on Ahnankwin.
“A military Y-8 aircraft dropped bombs inside Tanyin Village. One exploded near a group of people making ‘Hta-Ma-Ne’ (a traditional glutinous rice snack), injuring four civilians. After that, the aircraft turned towards Ahnankwin and dropped around 70 bombs,” said a local source.
The military junta has intensified its assaults on Ahnankwin and nearby villages, launching indiscriminate mortar attacks, drone strikes, and airstrikes. Civilian casualties, property damage, and fires have been reported.
In late January and early February, junta troops also set fire to around 50 houses in Ahnankwin Village, according to the Red Dragon Column, which released photographic evidence of the destruction.
Ahnankwin has been a focal point of clashes between the military junta and resistance forces. Since June 2024, revolutionary forces have besieged a junta strategic base in the area, but the military has defended its position using heavy artillery and air support.
As a result of the ongoing conflict, at least ten nearby villages have been abandoned, with thousands of residents fleeing to safer areas.
