Myanmar’s military junta has intensified airstrikes across Thaton District, Mon State, despite no active clashes in the region, according to a statement from the Karen National Union (KNU).

On February 13, the junta launched two airstrikes on Kawkat village in Kyaikhto Township—one around noon and another at approximately 4:00 p.m. The bombings damaged school buildings in the area.
Earlier the same day, at around 10:20 a.m., a military jet targeted Peinhnekone village, striking a monastery and its surroundings. The attack killed three civilians, injured more than 10 others, and caused severe damage to the monastery, the KNU reported.
The junta also carried out an airstrike on Takaylaungchaunghpyar village in Bilin Township on February 13, dropping 500-pound bombs on the area.
According to the KNU, the military has systematically targeted civilian infrastructure, including village schools, Christian churches, monasteries, pagodas, and residential homes.
Since December 30, 2024, the junta has repeatedly conducted airstrikes in Thaton District, with further attacks reported on February 1, 7, and 9, as well as multiple incidents in January.
