Acceleration of Efforts Needed to End Military Dictatorship

-

Efforts to completely dismantle the military dictatorship must be intensified, according to Comrade Sonny, General Secretary of the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF).

He emphasized the need to combine armed resistance with public uprisings in the fight against military rule.

“We need to step up our efforts. Primarily, all of our forces inside the country must unite to eradicate the military dictatorship. We must combine armed resistance with public movements, and the entire population must continue to struggle and fight together,” Comrade Sonny stated. “As we face challenges, we must overcome them collectively. I am committed to making every effort to achieve this goal.”

Nearly four years have passed since the military coup, and armed conflicts have expanded from border areas to central regions of the country.

Following the anti-regime Operation 1027 that the Brotherhood Alliance (AA-TNLA-MNDAA) launched, the military council has lost control of numerous camps, strategic hills, regional commands, and many towns.

In response, China has closed border checkpoints controlled by the Brotherhood Alliance, restricting food, medicine, fuel, electricity, and internet access.

Similarly, political analysts have stated that China has halted its support for military operations against the Brotherhood Alliance and is pressuring them to engage in political dialogue with the military council.

Kachin political figure U Kwan Gaung Aung Kham commented on the ongoing conflict, saying that the situation could drag on indefinitely unless one side achieves a decisive victory.

“To bring this to an end is quite difficult, given the current situation,” he said. “Both sides are determined to achieve victory, and the ongoing conflict is unlikely to end until one side prevails. If neither side can secure a decisive win, I believe this will drag on for a long time.”

Comrade Sonny also highlighted that the Spring Revolution is not led by any single organization but is a grassroots movement. He stressed the importance of cutting off systems and mechanisms that sustain the military dictatorship through diplomatic, economic, and military means.

Currently, revolutionary forces have control over 86 towns across the country.
