Local community organizations are actively holding discussions and evaluations of foundational federal principles in preparation for a large Mon Union Affairs Conference scheduled before the end of 2024.
Key stakeholders involved in these independent evaluations include the New Mon State Party (NMSP), Mon United Party (MUP), local monks, community members, and other relevant groups.
“Community organizations are meeting this November to evaluate these principles. The Mon Union Affairs Conference will follow before the end of 2024, focusing on the establishment of Ramanya Mon State and foundational federalism,” said a source close to the NMSP.
At the Mon Union Affairs Conference in 2022, the drafting of policies for the establishment of Ramanya Mon State and foundational federal principles was assigned to a policy drafting committee. According to sources, this process has been successfully completed.
“There’s nothing new about these discussions, they build on the 2022 conference. The policies drafted then need to be presented, which is why the NMSP is organizing this large conference in 2024,” the source added.
The 2022 Mon Union Affairs Conference was held from May 2 to May 5 at the Mon National Education Committee in Nyisar. During the four-day event, participants focused on drafting policies for federal principles and Ramanya Mon State, with a six-month timeline for completion. That conference laid the groundwork for a larger, more comprehensive gathering to address Mon Union affairs.
