Military Junta Seizes Six Homes in Paung Township

-

Six houses in Oketadar (Atwin) Village, Paung Township, Mon State, have been seized by the military junta, according to local sources.

On the afternoon of November 5, a group of over 20 junta soldiers and administrative officials arrived in the village in three vehicles. They seized the homes of U Kyaw Swar, U Aung Kyaw Moe, Daw Than Oo, U Sein Taung, U Hpo Pyaw, and U Sa Oo, claiming the properties were linked to individuals accused of supporting armed resistance groups.

A local resident said, “The seized homes were reportedly connected to people arrested in Theakone village along with weapons and ammunition. Junta soldiers informed families living in these houses to relocate about a week before the seizure.”

Since the seizures, junta troops have patrolled the village regularly, conducting patrols every two to three days.

Earlier incidents suggest a pattern of home confiscations in the area. In October, eight men from Oketadar (Atwin), Nyaungkonegyi, and Theakone villages were arrested under allegations of being PDF members. In August, two houses in Oketadar (Outwin) Village, belonging to U Pyae Phyo Aung and U Soe Htike Aung, were similarly seized.

Homes belonging to NLD representatives and supporters in Paung Township have also been confiscated under the pretext of anti-terrorism laws, designating them as state property.
