The Chairman of the Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA) announced that the KIA will continue its collaboration with pro-democracy forces and Spring Revolution allies working to dismantle Myanmar’s military dictatorship.

During a speech marking the KIA’s 64th anniversary on October 25, KIA Chairman General N’Ban La emphasized the group’s unwavering commitment to ending military rule in Myanmar.
The Chairman also added an invitation to Kachin local militias to join the KIA in moving out from under the military’s influence and to unite for this shared purpose.
With the current situation favoring intensified efforts to bring down the military junta, General N’Ban La urged youth to join the resistance movement, emphasizing the vital importance of their involvement.
At present, the KIA serves as the military command for the National Unity Government’s (NUG) District 1, collaborating closely with People’s Defense Force (PDF) units in field operations. The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) was established on October 25, 1960, and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) was formally founded on February 5, 1961, as reported by Kachin State-based media.
