A female lawyer from Kyaikto Township in Mon State, residing in Gantgaw Ward, was arrested by military junta forces, according to local sources.
The lawyer, Daw Sa Bae, was reportedly detained on August 18 by a large contingent of junta soldiers who raided her home. The arrest was allegedly due to her suspected connections with the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
Currently, Daw San Pe is being interrogated at the Military Intelligence Headquarters of Battalion 44 in Kyaikto. Locals have reported that her family has not been allowed to see her since the arrest.
During the period following the military coup, Daw San Pe had been providing free legal services to those charged under political laws. It is also reported that the junta revoked her law license in July of this year, according to residents of Kyaikto.
