The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) has announced its intention to establish a federal unit that will represent the Mon people within a future federal democratic union. The announcement was made on August 19, during the 77th Mon Revolution Day.
The MSFC reaffirmed its commitment to securing national equality, self-determination, and self-governance for the Mon people, and emphasized its plan to collaborate with other revolutionary groups and like-minded organizations to dismantle the current military dictatorship and any other forms of oppression.
The council also urged the Mon population, known for their rich history and enduring spirit, to unite and support these efforts. They highlighted the significant sacrifices made by Mon patriots over the years in the fight for autonomy and self-governance.
Mon leaders have been advocating for these rights since 1948, through various political regimes. Despite 77 years of struggle, the MSFC noted that the Mon people have yet to achieve their desired political and national objectives.
