Train Services on Yangon-Mawlamyine Route Suspended Due to Flooding in Bago

-

Due to flooding over the railway tracks in Bago, train services on the Yangon-Mawlamyine route have been temporarily suspended starting from today, July 29, according to an announcement from Mawlamyine Railway Station.

The announcement states that trains cannot pass through the flooded railway tracks. Consequently, the train services for train number (82) departing from Mawlamyine Station and train number (81) departing from Yangon Station have been temporarily suspended.

A Mawlamyine Railway Station official stated, “Currently, due to heavy rain and flooding in Bago, the railway tracks are inundated. Therefore, we have to temporarily suspend the train services. We will issue a notice when the services are set to resume.”

In light of the suspension, the Mawlamyine Railway Station has announced that tickets purchased will be refunded at the Mawlamyine ticket office from 6 AM to 10 AM.

The flooding in Bago has been exacerbated by heavy rain and rising river levels, leading to widespread inundation in the city. Additionally, the Bago-Yangon road has also been closed due to the flooding.
