-

In the three years since the military coup, nearly 1,900 people have been arrested and subsequently killed across various regions, according to a report by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).

The deaths of 1,853 individuals from February 2021 to the end of June 2024. It details that 30 people died in police stations, 131 in military interrogation centers, and 97 in prisons.

Among those killed, there were 14 women and 244 men, including six minors under the age of 18, with one being a two-year-old girl.

The report further states that 87 people died due to torture while in custody, and 63 died from inadequate medical treatment while detained.

The AAPP highlights that the military junta has been conducting widespread arrests of pro-democracy activists and civilians nationwide. Those detained are often held in police stations, military interrogation centers, and prisons, where they are subjected to various forms of physical, mental, and sexual torture.

The report underscores the brutal and inhumane methods used during interrogations, leading to injuries and deaths for which the military junta has shown no accountability.
