During clashes in Mogok Township, Northern Shan State, an attack by the military junta targeting civilians resulted in the deaths of 9 children, 8 women, and 14 men, with 59 others injured, according to a statement by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).
As part of Operation 1027 (Part 2), the TNLA began attacking military junta camps in Mogok Township on June 25. Four weeks later, on July 24, the TNLA successfully cleared and captured all the camps, which were under the command of the Central Command Headquarters of the junta, including Infantry Battalions 78, 88, and 148.
The TNLA reported that the military junta’s attacks on civilians during the clashes resulted in the deaths of 14 men, 8 women, and 9 children, and injuries to 59 others.
Additionally, airstrikes by the military junta destroyed four monasteries and burned down 29 houses.
During the battles to capture Mogok, the TNLA seized over 200 various weapons, a large amount of ammunition, military equipment, and over 30 military junta members.
On June 30, the TNLA captured the military junta camps in western Mogok. Subsequently, they advanced to the eastern part of Mogok, capturing government offices, including a prison and police stations.
Mogok is a town where the military junta’s Central Command Headquarters, including Infantry Battalions 78, 88, and 148, had set up their operations, making it the second town captured by the TNLA.
