The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has reportedly shut down banks and government offices in the territories it has seized, according to TNLA sources.
During the second phase of Operation 1027, the TNLA has closed banks and government offices in the towns of Mogaung and Naungcho, along with some homes of individuals connected to the military junta.
A resident of Naungcho reported, “Near my house, the KBZ Bank and the homes of election officials and military junta affiliates have been shut down. There is a notice stating ‘No Entry Except for Authorized Personnel.’ Additionally, patrols are being conducted around the town.”
A TNLA spokesperson confirmed the closure of banks, government offices, and some homes, citing security concerns as the primary reason. “Due to previous incidents, we believe these locations could be targets for breaches. While some of these places belong to certain individuals or groups, we plan to return them to the locals when it’s safe,” said spokesperson Lay uay Oo.
The TNLA has also detained several individuals for breaking into homes.
The TNLA seized western parts of Naungcho and Mogok in July and is preparing to start administrative operations in these areas.
