According to local news sources, three local women, including the sister of Nai Kyi San, who is a member of the political military leadership group of the New Mon State Party (Anti-military Dictatorship) NMSP-AD, were abducted by the military junta on the night of March 2nd.
On March 2nd around 8:00 p.m., an unidentified armed group abducted Nai Adan, a militia leader in Kawtpihtaw village, Mudon Township. The group also took weapons they found. The military junta’s 318th Infantry Regiment (Abit Infantry Battalion) also brought in Daw Myint San, the sister of Nai Kyi San, from Taungpa village for questioning.
“On March 3rd, around 2 am, a teacher from Taungpa village was arrested. The teacher was arrested because she is the sister of a member from a group called the New Mon State Party (Anti-military Dictatorship). She still hasn’t been in contact with her husband. The military junta took her in for questioning,” reported a local source.
Additionally, according to local news sources, another sister of a member of the New Mon State Party from Kawtpihtaw village, Mudon Township, and the wife of a New Mon State Party liaison officer from Kamarwet village were also arrested by the military junta and are being detained at the Abit battalion.
The Independent Mon News Agency is trying to contact New Mon State Party and New Mon State Party (Anti-military Dictatorship) officials to confirm the arrests.
A local source confirmed, “Regarding the arrest of the militia leader from Kawtpihtaw, all three women were detained by the military junta. I heard that Abit is now under military control.”
These 3 women now join 10 other women being detained by the junta’s 318th battalion.
