In Ye township, Mon State, the military junta’s 587th and 588th Light Infantry Battalions (LIB) were targeted in an attack carried out by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF).
On September 24, at approximately 1:30 pm the joint forces of KNLA and PDF announced they had attacked the 587th camps located in Ahri Taung village, Ye township. The next day they attacked the 588th LIB camp situated between Ye township, Mawtkanin village, and the Suspension Bridge, which was attacked by the PDF joint force.
During the two-day attack, one commander from the 587th battalion was killed, two were seriously injured, and one soldier from 588th was killed. The joint forces sustained no injuries.
The Independent Mon News Agency has not been able to independently confirm reports of casualties among the military junta members.
Military junta bases and outposts in Ye township are frequently targeted by joint forces of the KNLA and PDF.
