On September 14 the National League for Democracy (NLD) announced its concern about the health of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
The military junta kidnapped Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and held her in various secret locations without giving her the rights of a political prisoner, according to the NLD statement.
The NLD is concerned that she is being denied access to adequate healthcare, proper food and accommodation, which may be putting her life at risk.
The NLD indicated the military junta is solely responsible for any health problems or life-threatening injuries to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was illegally arrested, denied the right to defend herself according to legal procedures, and has been unjustly punished in absentia without the use of a transparent judicial system.
According to the NDL the United Nations, Western European countries, China, and ASEAN countries are exploring various avenues to secure the prompt release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, including direct discussions with the military junta.
The NLD also appealed to the United Nations, the ASEAN Community and the leaders of neighbouring countries, international organizations, and revolutionary forces at home and abroad to exercise more force, so that all the leaders of the League and political prisoners be freed as soon as possible without exception.
