Gold Shop Robbed in Paung Township

In Paung township, despite tight security, two young men robbed a gold shop on Lower Road, Kada Ward.  The robbery occurred  around 1:45 p.m. on September 20, according to local residents.

The two young men came to the Lamin Tha Yar Gold shop and pretended to be buying gold, but instead they robbed the store.

One witness said, “The two of them entered the shop. One pretended to be interested in  buying gold. Then he grabbed the gold shown by the shopkeeper and escaped on his motorcycle. I followed the thief but was not able  to catch up,” he said.

The two robbers drove a Wave i125 motorcycle and fled into the Paung ward. The robbers remain on the run and a search is being conducted in the township. 

The gold lockets and earrings stolen from the shop are valued at  nearly 800,000 kyats.
