The Ministry of Health and Sports confirmed there were 40 Covid cases reported in one day on February 20.
According to a Covid aid worker in Ye Township, among those infected were health care workers and prison inmates.
“The confirmed patients were taken to a private place where test results were shared. They are being treated and there are no significant symptoms,” he said.
Up to 27 inmates from Ye Township Police Station, including six health care workers from Ye Township Hospital and seven patients from Anampone and Dooya villages were infected with the virus.
The family members of the confirmed patients are quarantined at home and are being monitored, according to a Covid worker.
Currently, the infection rates are rising in Mon State. People should be careful about going outside and avoid public gatherings, stated one doctor.
“Almost everything is happening now, so people need to take more care of themselves and their families. Avoid going to crowded places. It is very important to wear a mask,” he said.
He urged the public to be more vigilant as more case counts are on the rise across the State.
According to the Ministry of Health, there were more than 17,600 covid patients in Mon State during the third wave of Covid, and more than 1,400 deaths are attributed to the virus.
