The number of COVID-19 cases in Mon State townships is decreasing, particularly in
townships that had a high number of cases such as Thanbyuzayat, Kyaikmaraw and Chaungzone.
A volunteer group of health practitioners visiting rural areas have confirmed a drop in the case counts, in Mon State, Myanmar.
“We are here to provide health treatment to the local patients. At the moment, we are not seeing many COVID-19 positive patients. We are able to provide tests to confirm the presence of the virus, and we have found very few cases. The numbers have gone down a lot. Of the locals who had COVID-19, we are able to give them treatment,” said Ko BoBo Win, one of the volunteers who provides free health assistance to local people.
“The COVID-19 cases….. At the moment, it has gone down a lot. Still, it is not like we do not have COVID-19 cases here, but the numbers are going down. We go to the field to provide health assistance needed in those villages. We provide help not just for COVID-19 cases but also for chronic diseases. It’s very satisfying to help others,” said Mi Sandar Non, another member of the volunteer team.
More health support is needed in rural areas, currently assistance is provided by volunteer groups that travel into rural areas in response to community requests for help. There is no charge for these services.
Health volunteers traveling into the rural areas are led by Dr. Aung Kyaw Soe, along with nurses who work in collaboration with the Red Cross group in Mawlamyine and with the BoBo Win Emergency Group.
These healthcare groups have been traveling to the areas where locals can not afford medical support.
