A total of roughly hundred and five thousand kyats worth of ‘ice’ and ‘WY’– two illegal drugs were seized on September 11 in Three Pagoda Pass, near the Thai-Myanmar border, Kayin state and in Than Phyu Zayat Township, Mon State.
Aye Win Naing (ka) Wa Tot (30 years old), a resident of Three Pagodas Pass Township, was found with the drugs at his home. Khant Zaw Ko (ka) Khant (24 years old), Ye Htet Lwin (23 years old) and Nyi Mon Oo (ka) Nyi Nyi were arrested at the intersection of Thek Kaw Road [Three Pagodas – Than Phyu Zayat Road].
The Mon State Criminal Assistance group, along with police in Than Phyu Zayat Township and security forces from Wal Kali village, were involved in the arrests.
The three men were driving a white Honda Fit and failed to stop at a roadblock. Police shot at the front wheel of the car, forcing the driver to stop the car. Drugs were found in the vehicle.
According to the T.C.P News Agency in Than Phyu Zayat, a total of 9 kilograms of ‘ice’ and 4,800 tablets of WY were found in the car.
Then, on the evening of September 11, at the Three Pagodas Pass Township, Yadanar Thein Kha Street No. (3) Ward, Aye Win Naing (ka) Wa Tot, who lives near the Dhamma Haywan Monastery, was arrested at his home by local authorities.
A police search found, a kilogram of ‘ice’, 108 kilograms of heroin, 911,000 tablets of pink ‘WY’ , 8,400 tablets of green ‘WY’, 6,000 tablets of pink ‘WY [SU label], and eighteen thousand tablets of pink ‘WY’ [88 labeled].
The street value of the drugs is estimated to be worth more than 101,271 kyats. All the drugs were seized by the authorities.
A total of nearly 2 billion baht worth of ‘ice’, heroin and ketamine were also smuggled into Thailand from the Three Pagodas route on the Thai-Burmese border but seized at the Thong Pha Phum checkpoint [in Thong Pha Phum Township, Kanchanaburi State] on August 24.
The suspect in that case has escaped and authorities are investigating.
