On January 9 around 7 p.m., a villager was shot in Chaung Taung village in Ye Township and admitted to the general hospital.
“The bullet looks new. We do not know whether it is a soldier or just an outsider,” said U Phay Myint another Chaung Taung villager.
U Zaw Min, a 56-year-old resident of Chaing Taung village, was shot by two young men dressed in camouflage clothing. He received three injuries including one bullet wound in the left abdomen, a gash on the right knee, and another a small cut on the left foot.
“While U Zaw Min was sitting in his house, the two men came with a motorcycle. They asked if it is he is U Zaw Min then started firing at him. The person who shot the gun was more likely to be an outsider as the bullet shells are not the type used by the troops,” said, Win Myint a police officer from the Ye Township police station.
Further details regarding the incident are not yet available as the case is still under investigation. The police are taking steps to arrest the perpetrators, according to the Ye Township police station.
