Nai Seik, the chairman of the All Mon Regions Democracy Party (AMDP), passed away at 4:10 PM on Saturday at the age of 84. His passing occurred at his house in Myaingtharyar Quarter, Moulmein, the capital of Mon State.
His funeral was organized during Sunday afternoon and he departed for Painne Kon Cemetery, located on the main road of Moulmein-Kyaikmayaw, according to Nai San Tin, Joint-secretary (2) of AMDP.
Nai Seik, also known as Nai Maung Teik, was elected AMDP’s chairman at the party’s first conference in May, 2014.
He competed for the Mudon Constituency (1) in the 2010 Election for the Pyithu Hluttaw representative post. However, Nai Seik was defeated by the outgoing Chief Minister U Ohn Myint of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).
Nai Seik was born on the 17th of June 1932 in Hton Mam Village, Mudon Township, Mon State. Son of U Htun Aye and Mi Pwo. He never married.
Nai Seik graduated with a B.A in Political Science at Rangoon University and soon after worked for the government. He then worked as an assistant manager in Mon State’s agricultural trading before his retirement.
After his retirement, he also served as chairman of the Moulmein Township Mon Literature and Culture Committee as well as the committee for Mon National Day in Moulmein Township. In 2010, when the AMDP was established, he was first appointed as AMDP vice-chairman (2). After his appointment as chairman of the AMDP in 2014, he then served as the party chairman until his death.
