By the end of May, those accused were charged with Article 420; dishonestly inducing delivery of property, Article 468; forgery of documentation, Article 471; continued use of a forged document, and Article 109; abetment of punishable offence, according to an official from Thanbyuzayat Town Police Station.
“It is true that they are detained at Thanbyuzayat Police Station. But we do not know the entire story of that case yet. The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is responsible for opening the case [against those accused],” said the Official, adding that the accused would be detained until the issue resolved.
“The Land Record Department staff members are [also] charged with Article 109 for encouraging and helping [to mislead the land case]. Because it is still in the process of interviews and discussions, we cannot discern anything yet. Those accused will remain detained since there is yet a guarantee,” said U Thein Nyan, a [Hluttaw]lawyer.
U Thein Nyan continued to announce that at the moment, one land surveyor has fled and is now in hiding.
“I have come to understand more about Pa-nga Village’s land corruption case. The President’s office has overseen this case. This is a case taken care of by DSI,” said a member of Pa-nga villager’s elders group.
This is the first time such a land misuse case has taken place in Pa-nga Village during this government’s term.
