Daw Suu’s trip to Mon State postponed indefinately

-

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has postponed her trip to Mon State, originally slated to commence in late March, indefinitely, due to current high weather temperatures, according to Mon State’s National League for Democracy (NLD).

According to U Aye Min Han of Mon State’s NLD’s Information Sector, due to the postponement, every activity and program scheduled for the NLD’s chairwoman Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s trip had to be canceled.

“It is because the weather is very hot. So, mother [Daw Suu’s] trip has to be postponed, while there is no exact date planned yet for her to travel here,” said U Aye Min Han.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s trip to Mon State was originally set to begin on March 27th, where she was scheduled to give speeches in Moulmein City and Thanbyuzayat Town. As planned, local NLD members distributed pamphlets throughout the townships welcoming her to Mon State.

Mon State’s NLD Headquarters does not have any plans to officially announce postponement dates for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s trip to Mon State.

According to the NLD’s Kyaikmayaw Township’s office, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s trip to Mon State was postponed due to health concerns, as well as inclement weather and, as such, everyone should be understanding of these facts.

“If she did not happen to come this time, we will then invite her for next time. Due to her health conditions, we can understand this. If she happens to come in the near future, it will be after the rainy season, because we have a lot of rain in Mon State,” said U Khin Zaw Oo of Kyaikmayaw Township’s NLD.

Although Daw Aung San Suu Kyi had requested a leave from Hluttaw to see her doctor for a medical check regarding health concerns earlier this month, she has now been able to return to Hluttaw.
