By Independent Mon News Agency – a Mon Buddhist monk, who is highly respected among Mon Buddhist monks and Mon people in Mon State, passed away today, according to a spokesperson from the monastery at Kamarwet village, Mudon Township, Mon State.
Abbot Ein Taka died at 1:45 p.m. local time in Burma, said the spokesperson.
Today, many villagers in Kamarwet village, Mudon Township, visited his monastery to pay homage to him.
The 75-year-old monk passed away two days after he was discharged from Asia Taw Win Hospital in Rangoon and two months after he had an operation in Singapore for his cancer.
Abbot Ein Taka was the chairman of the Mon Literature and Culture Committee in Mon State, working to educate Mon children by teaching them the Mon language.
The chief minister of Mon State, Ohn Myint paid his respect to Abbot Ein Taka today. Ohn Myint previously provided Abbot Ein Taka with the cancer operation costs in Singapore in April 2011.
