2nd round of livelihood supports underway due to Covid-19

The President’s Office announced on June 19th, 2020 that for the second time the government will provide food packs to those facing livelihood hardships due to Covid-19.  

The Mon State government listed more than 70,000 households that are eligible to receive supports for the second time.  

Those who didn’t get the first-time support will be included this time. And, more than 3,000 households who live in the remote eastern Ye of the NMSP controlled area will be added to the list, said U Myint Than Win, the Director of the Mon State government.

The Mon State government has already provided livelihood support to more than 40,000 households.

There are 30,000 more households this time. We’ll provide the support in accordance with the instruction from the National-Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control, and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), said the Director.

1.4 million households across Burma did not get the first-time support and they will now receive 15,000 Kyat, according to the President’s Office.

The government is now preparing to extend monetary support to more than 5.4 million households across Burma.
