Outcomes from complaints against Mon State Chief Minister to be unveiled within a week

-

The outcomes from the examined complaints against Mon State Chief Minister will be disclosed within seven to ten days, according to U Nyan Win, leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD)’s investigating team.

The investigating team, comprised of 3 members, has already inspected the complaints surrounding Mon State Chief Minister and Tanintharyi Region’s Hluttaw Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

Details regarding the specific nature of the complaints aren’t clear. However, a divisional lawmaker, who requested anonymity, has claimed the Speaker and Deputy Speaker granted construction tenders to relatives and business associates.

“Orders will be given for the respective final verdicts. However, I do not know what kind of orders they will be. The answers will be unveiled within one week or ten days,” said U Nyan Win, who led the investigating team.

The NLD’s investigating team members, U Nyan Win, Dr. Myo Nyunt and U Kyaw Ho, met with the complaintants and the accused.

The team has already submitted the findings to the NLD’s central executive group.

During the 8 months after the Mon State Chief Minister took the office, he has been occasionally absent at the Hluttaw [parliament] conferences, he included business associates in the state project committee, and he often had meetings with certain financiers. This has led to public criticism, alongside condemnation of his social life.

In addition to the core post of chief minister, the chief minister U Min Min Oo is also co-managing posts in the State Development Ministry and the Construction Ministry.

On November 12, 2016, the Mon State Chief Minister told reporters, after the last day of the sixth anniversary at the NLD’s regular conference of first-central committee, that if party members asked him to resign from the chief minister’s post, that he would resign immediately.
