Mon State has regained its top-place in university exam admission results boasting a 39.37% success rate in 2016. The results were announced on Saturday, June 11. Mandalay Division took second place with 35.50% and Rangoon Division was listed 3rd with 33.21%. Chin State scored the lowest passing rate with 14.36%.
The 2014-2015 results placed Mon State second with the rate 43.40%, losing first place to Irrawaddy Division who scored 51.78%. Prior to 2015, Mon State held the top-ranked position for the previous six years. Following Mon State, Maway Division stood at third and Rangoon Division at fourth, with 40.86% and 37.16%, respectively.
Saturday’s results announcement displayed that out of the 19,681 students across Mon State who sat for the exam, 7749 students passed it. Of the successful students, 12 passed with six distinctions, 48 students passed with five distinctions, 170 with four distinctions, 217 with three distinctions, 344 with two distinctions and 1827 with one distinction.
Concerning the passing rate across Mon State’s townships, Mudon Township came in first, reaching 54.78%. In second place was Thanbyuzayat with 53.72%, and Moulmein followed with 44.48%. The lowest was Kyaikhto with 30.79%.
Furthermore, 92 students from the high schools operated by the Mon National Education Department participated in the 2015-2016 matriculation exams. However, only 11 students passed the exams, exhibiting 11.83%.
2016’s results announcement also disclosed that 636,237 students sat for the matriculation exam at respective exam centers across the nation and abroad. Although, only 190,388 students passed and the overall passing rate was 29.92%.
