MNP vice-chair among 18 ministerial nominees

-

Nai Thet Lwin, vice-chairman (1) of the Mon National Party (MNP), was named on Tuesday as one of 18 nominees for union-level ministerial positions by the Union Parliament in Nay Pyi Taw.

Earlier reports suggested that Nai Thet Lwin was nominated to head the Ethnic Affairs Ministry.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, chair of the National League for Democracy party that swept general elections last year, is also on the list and reportedly set her sights on the Minister of Foreign Affairs position.

Parliament is scheduled to discuss the proposed list of nominees on Thursday.
