Guns, ammo seized at MPDF Major’s house

Police personnel seized guns and ammunition at the house of Major Nai Myint Naing of the Mon Peace and Defense Front (MPDF).

According to the Moulmein Township Police Force, the raid was conducted jointly by Mon State police officers led by Police Chief Bo Bo Oo and a group led by Col. Win Naing Oo, the Mon State Minister for Security and Border Affairs. The seizure reportedly began around 9:30 PM on January 29 at the Major’s home in the Zaya Myaing Quarter of Moulmein, the capital of Mon State.

The joint force confiscated 8 guns during the raid, including two 9mm pistols, two M16s, one AK-47, and more than 10,000 bullets.

Upon seizure of the weapons, the Zayar Thiri Police Force charged Nai Myint Naing under article 19 Ka, Act Law.

After disbanding from the New Mon State Party, the MNDF disarmed in 2011 and agreed with the government to form militia units.
