Reported by IMNA, All Mon Regions Democracy Party (AMDP)’s candidate Nai Mya Shein, 61, who was to compete for Mudon Township Pyithu Hluttaw, has passed away from heart cancer, on the morning of October 28, at his home, in Kamarwet Town, Mudon Township.

The news comes days before the elections, “he did not get to fulfill his people’s desires”, said Mi Sorn Aung, wife of late Nai Mya Shein.

Due to his medical treatment in Rangoon during the last two months of the election race, he was unable to campaign for one and half months, according to Nai Chan Aik, representative of Nai Mya Shein.

“At the beginning, he could organize campaigns for 2-3 places. Because of his health conditions, he was sent to Rangoon for medical treatment and then could not continue his campaigns,” said Nai Chan Aik.

“He wanted to know whether he would win or lose in the elections if he competed. That was what he told us when he was hospitalized. It was about 10 days left [before the elections] when he passed away. But he did not get to know the result,” said Mi Thazin Htwe, Amyotha candidate of AMDP for Mudon Township’s constituency no (6).

Besides being a singer for Mon music band, Nai Mya Shein, father of four children, worked for Mon State’s cultural organization, Mudon Township’s Mon literature and culture organization, participated in volunteer work and local development projects.

Due to the death of Nai Mya Shein, for the Mudon Pyithu Hluttaw candidate place, Daw Ei Ei Aye of National Unity Party (NUP), U Aung Min of National Democratic Force (NDF), U Kyaw Kyaw Lwin of Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), U Saw Htun of National League for Democracy (NLD), U Aung Kyi of National Development Party (NDP), Mi Kyin Thant of Mon National Party (MNP), and Mi Moe Moe Khaing of Women’s Party (Mon), will compete.

“Because he passed away at this moment, his position cannot be replaced. Please, choose the candidate that represents the Mon people and works for their benefits,” said Dr. Min Nwe Soe, General Secretary of AMDP.
