NLD and USDP submit Mon State electoral candidate lists

UEC websiteReported by IMNA, The country’s two major political parties, the National League for Democracy (NLD) and the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), have submitted their respective candidates to compete in constituencies throughout Mon State.

NLD and USPD have so far submitted 43 [NLD] candidates and 46 [USDP] candidates respectively to the Union Election Commission (UEC).

Of the 46 candidates from the USDP, 10 candidates will compete for Pyithu Hluttaw (Houses of Representatives) constituencies, 12 will compete for Amyotha Hluttaw (Houses of Nationalities) and 24 will compete for Division and State Hluttaw (Division and State Assembly).

However, the NLD will have 10 candidates run for Pyithu Hluttaw, an additional 12 candidates for Amyotha Hluttaw, and 21 candidates for Division and State Hluttaw.

Meanwhile, IMNA has discovered that one of the leading Mon political parties, the Mon National Party (MNP) submitted the list of its 49 candidates. Thus far, of the 49 candidates, 11 candidates will run for Pyithu Hluttaw, and 13 candidates will compete for Amyotha Hluttaw, while 25 candidates will compete for Division and State Hluttaw.

In Mon State 34 MNP candidates will run; wherein 8 candidates will compete for Pyithu Hluttaw constituencies and 8 candidates compete for Amyotha Hluttaw constituencies, besides 18 candidates will run for Mon State Hluttaw constituencies.

The rest of the MNP candidates will run for their respective constituencies in Karen State and Tenasserim Division.

IMNA also found out that although All Mon Regions Democracy Party (AMDP) stated it submitted 35 candidates, only 33 candidates were listed on the UEC website (till August 13).

For Mon State Hluttaw ethnic candidates, 11 candidates, including U Thet Win (Bamar ethnic), U Aung Kyaw Thein (Karen ethnic), and Daw Nang Khin Myo Min (Pa-O ethnic ) will compete.

The parties’ candidate lists mentioned above are based on the current candidate lists stated on the UEC’s website. And, the date for the 2015 election is set for November 8, 2015.
