According to his neighbour, “Yesterday, police from Lamine also ordered Nai Kyau Linn to the station after already summoning him on the day of the accident, July 15”.

Police officers asked the owner to pay five million kyat for the accident, but did not arrest the owner, said local residents. The IMNA has been unable to confirm whether the owner gave the money to the authorities.

The shop was located between Lamine sub town and Mawkanin village, and it was the largest shop in the sub township.

A fire started at the shop at about 4 p.m. on 15 July when the owner opened a fuel tank while selling oil to a customer. As the fire raged, the owner and the customer ran out from the shop. The owner was wounded slightly when the fire started.

A witness said, “It led to dire consequences when the owner opened the fuel tank”. The fire was extinguished after fire brigade vehicles from Lamine and Mawkanin village arrived.

The shop had about 70 fuel tanks, and the damages were calculated to result in the loss of about thirty million kyat worth of goods.

Fuel shops in most townships in Mon State are selling outside the town since the fuel shop was destroyed.
