According to Nai Hong Sar Pon Khaing, party spokesperson, the meeting will be held for a week. “We will review what we have done for six months and we also will discuss the UNFC [United Nationalities Federal Council – Union of Burma] and our plans for the future,” he said.

At the same time that the central committee members meeting takes place, the Mon National Liberation Army military leaders will also hold a meeting about their upcoming plans.

Usually, the central committee members hold their meeting at a separate time from the military leaders. However, their meetings may have a similar discourse and sources close to the NMSP have reported that the party’s leaders may discuss methods for instigating a military frontline in the near future.

Reportedly, the NMSP, Democratic Karen Buddhist Army, and the Karen National Union are discussing ways in which to open battlefronts all at the same time. Their goal would be to attack the military regime while their UNFC alliance member, the Shan State Army-North, is being attacked by the Burmese military.

The NMSP has 7 executive committee and 27 committee members, all of which will join the meeting tomorrow.
