Thai police forces in Bangkok have seized a significant drug stash from traffickers linked to the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), stated the Thai Komchadluek newspaper today.

The newspaper stated that the 10 DKBA drug traffickers were carrying ninety thousand amphetamine pills, 5 gram of amphetamine powder; they were reportedly arrested at 10 A.M.

yesterday morning in Ayuttaya, Bangkok.

The ten drug traffickers were reportedly holding Thai citizenship cards and smuggled the drugs from the city of Mae Sot, which link with the Burmese city of Myawaddy on the Thai-Burma border.

The DKBA, a splinter group in league with the Burmese government, broke from the Karen National Union (KNU) in 1995. The group has been afforded significant economic concessions by the Burmese military government, which allows them to conduct an array of businesses both inside Burma and on the Thai-Burma border.
